三十年前，甘肃黄河岸边的十万农民离乡迁居，陆续进入城镇，随人一起消失在黄土高原的还有世代传唱的黄河歌谣。出生于白银乡间的牧羊少年张尕怂从小患有口吃，却受到父辈熏陶，自幼喜欢民歌。 2012年，尕怂来到城市闯荡，阴差阳错走上演艺道路，四处在酒吧演出，寄希望于以此成名。他醉心于西北民歌，四处寻访学艺，也因“泥土味”的特色而受邀参加一档火热的电视选秀节目，成为广受欢迎的“民谣歌手”。正在此时，爷爷的意外离世让尕怂发现自己身上正在失去“农村味儿”，而远方的故土和家园也渐告崩裂。 未来迟迟还没来，等待成名的尕怂逐渐感到失落，能够慰籍心灵的只有麦穗泥土的深沉味道。而过去的已经过去， 唯有聆听家园故土的遥远回音。。A writer becomes obsessed with his girlfriend's former boyfriend, now a very successful novelist.
